I'm Justin Ray, a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I've worked in mental health for over 30 years, and I own two practices here in Chesapeake, Virginia. South Chesapeake Psychiatry is a general psychiatric clinic. Transforming Minds Interventional Psychiatry, TRIP for short, is the interventional side, specializing in SPRAVATO. SPRAVATO, esketamine, is for treatment-resistant depression, which is the name for what happens when several antidepressants haven't worked. It's given in a certified setting, and psychedelic-assisted treatment may follow as those trials mature. Most people who sit down across from me have already tried something. A medication that half worked, a visit that ran 12 minutes, a plan nobody explained. We find that unacceptable. It's a big part of why I started this channel: to put the explanation where anyone can get to it. Here we go into how treatments actually work. Mechanism, trial design, what an endpoint really measured and what it didn't. New and emerging treatments with the honest pros and cons, and the gap between theory and application. What holds up when it meets the real world, to include the insurance company. There's no separate channel here for clinicians and another for everyone else. Same conversation. None of this replaces the prescriber who knows your history. It's the explanation you should have gotten in the room. More tools in the toolbox.
